Eric Hanushek is a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University and a leader in the economic analysis of education issues. On this episode of the Federalist Radio Hour, Ben Domenech and Hanushek discuss a number of topics including: common misconceptions for improving U.S. schools, the culture war within public schools, the impact of a child’s family life on education, and the correlation between a teacher’s pay and the quality of education.
“The effectiveness of schools is a function of how effective the teachers are,” Hanushek said. “Right now, we actually evaluate teachers a lot in schools. It’s just that we never use that information for any purpose, so that we can rate our teachers.”
